Zinwell ZAT-970A Digital to Analog TV Converter Box Review

Many of you want to cut the cord and save money on cable and satellite bills. But you want to continue to use your old televisions. To do that you’re going to need a digital to analog converter box (DTA). In this review I’ll introduce you to one of the best.

The Zinwell ZAT – 970A Digital to Analog TV Converter Box is among the best in terms of picture quality and reliability. The primary feature that this box has that others don’t is the ability to program up to eight different items. The box will turn itself on and tune to a specific channel at a particular time.  You will need to connect to DVR, VCR or some other recording device. Unfortunately it does not have the ability to turn itself off, a minor issue.

The Zinwell includes analog pass-through. This allows the antenna input to receive analog signals and pass it through to your TV or other device even in standby. Both of the Zinwell’s coax and composite outputs are active, even when the unit is in standby. It will also allow you to manually tune to new digital channel without having to do a time-consuming channel scan.

If you know a channel exists but it is not found after a scan or manual tune. The Zinwell signal meter can be brought up and left on the screen. Then simply leave the meter up and go move your antenna around until the signal comes in, very handy. The guide leaves a little to be desired as it only shows the current program and the next program coming up. There is no information available for the other channels or beyond the next program on the current channel.
